Killadoon is an area of exquisite beauty. Here
are just some of the Local Attractions you will
discover during your stay.
- The Clew Bay Archaeological Trail
incorporates many antiquities spread around the
local area, namely the Clapper Bridge shown on
the left. The bridge originates from prehistoric
times. There are also numerous examples of
inscribed stones documented locally and one of
the finest examples of a megalithic tomb can be
visited on your way through the Doolough
Valley.
- A must see are our famous beaches - the
Silver and White Strand renowned worldwide for
their miles of golden sands with Mweelrea - the
highest mountain in Connaught - as the
backdrop.
- Achill Island is Ireland's largest offshore
island and one if its most spectacular. Its
famous Atlantic Drive reveals some of Achill's
most beautiful scenery.
- Clare Island is a charming island of 16 sq
km at the mouth of Clew Bay. Take the Clare
Island Ferry and see the remains of the late
fifteenth century Cistercian friary.
- Inisturk is another beautiful island to be
explored and has a ferry service.

Clapper
Bridge
- Croagh Patrick - is one of Ireland's most
famous landmarks. It is a sacred mountain for
almost 5,000 years and
rises to a height of 2510 feet, overlooking Clew
Bay. Each year, thousands of people flock to
Croagh Patrick
and climb this rugged mountain.
- Take a trip to the beautiful village of
Leenane situated at the head of Killary Harbour
and surrounded by Mountains. Killary Harbour in
the midst of Ireland's only Fjord.

- Kylemore Abbey is the Monastic home of the
Benedictine Nuns - you can visit the Abbey,
Gardens,Gothic
Church and their Visitor Centre.
